Seasons Summary 

After the graduation of many players from last year’s team, this year’s senior boys’ volleyball team had a very different look with just 3 returning players and 12 new, but talented players. The team had a challenging beginning with close losses to KCVI, Frontenac, and Sydenham. Following a mid-season low, the team realized that a change was in order. The team bounced back with a significant improvement, demonstrating a winning attitude and focus on team communication on and off the court. This change culminated to a dominant defeat of Frontenac in the Quarter-finals. Coaches Condie and Gervais would like to congratulate Reid Hulton, Connor Medeiros, Evan Guanzon, and Sam Kim, this year’s graduating players.

Season Schedule and Results

Season Summary

With participation in four tournaments along with Kassaa games, the 2017 HC senior boys’ volleyball team played over 30 games of volleyball. After having lost to Durham Christian in two previous games at different locations, the boys reached a turning point in their season during the University of Toronto invitational. Not only did they manage to beat the Durham team who was well rested with a bye, the boys continue their success earning a spot in the Gold medal game. With little left in the tank, they battled hard but came up just short of the gold, still earning a silver medal. Another highlight of the season for the team was the show of huge support for the team from the HC student body during the PH classic held at RND. Thank you to students’ council for helping organize the event. The team finished their Kassaa regular season tied in points with the third placed KCVI Blues. The team played one of their most dominant games in the quarters, beating LSS in three straight sets. The boys started out strong in the semi’s vs the talented SHS comfortably winning the first set. The strong middle attack of SHS proved to be a challenge for the HC squad ending their season in a 3-1 loss. We would like to thank assistant coaches James Condie and Ms. Zolnierczyk for their contributions and dedication the teams. The coaches would like to congratulate the following graduating players and wish them good luck for next year: Marcus Pye-Condie, Tyler Healey, Jordan Houle, Tristan Gervais, Karan Patel, and Jacob Laframboise.

Seasons Summary 

The Holy Cross Senior Boys Volleyball Team had a fantastic season winning a total of eight games. They started the season off strong with a big victory against Napanee District Secondary School winning 3 sets to 1. Some of the most decisive victories of the year included defeating the Bayridge Secondary School Bengals, the Frontenac Secondary School Falcons, the Loylist Collegiate and Vocational Institute Lancers, and the Sydenham High School Golden Eagles, which were all won 3 sets to 0. "We performed at a high level of play consistently," said coach Manion, reflecting on their season. Their hard work and skill paid off as the team bumped set and spiked their way to the KASSAA semi-finals.

Seasons Schedule and Results 

Seasons Summary 

The Senior Boys Volleyball team won their first nine straight games without loosing more than one set in each game eith the exception of the FSS Falcons. They beat NDSS, KCVI, QUCVI, FSS, SHS, LCVI, GREC, LSS, and BSS. However they feel short when they are defeated by rivals RND 3 sets to 1. They continued their wins against Marie Rivier winning 3-0 and won both the quarter finals against NDSS and semi finals against FSS they then were off to the KASSAA finals. After successfully making it out of the Kingston and Eastern Ontario Championships, the Holy Cross Sr. Boys Volleyball team has earned a birth into this years AAA OFSAA Volleyball Championships in London.

Seasons Summary 

The Senior boys team won against QE in straight sets, 25-4, 25-10 and 25-8. Next game is Thursday September 20 against LSS.  The Senior Boys Volleyball team  won the consolation championships at the McMaster University Volleyball tournament in Hamilton on the weekend. Through True Grit, determination and a short bench, the team fought hard all weekend. Well done guys! The boys then went on to win against Ernestown, and Sharbot lake. The senior boys volleyball team had a successful weekend at the Rick Hansen Tournament in Mississauga. After tough pool play falling to the eventual tournament winner from Eden the boys lost a hard fought match in playoff rounds to St. Mikes of Stratford. The boys continue to improve as they prepare for the KASSAA playoffs
