The Non-profit sector offers a range of careers that are dynamic, engaging, and rewarding. The sectorβs employers include some 69,000 non-profit organizations nationwide. Countless career paths are available for people who share the sectorβs common vision: to make a difference. They are active in a variety of areas β health and social services, religion, development and housing, arts and culture, sports and recreation, the environment, education and research, fundraising, and law, advocacy, and politics β both in Canada and internationally.

Apprenticeship β conference and event planner.

College β accounting technician or bookkeeper; administrative officer; business development officer or marketing researcher or consultant; facility operation or maintenance manager; human resources professional; instructor of persons with disabilities; administrative services manager; other business services manager; social policy researcher, consultant, or program officer.

University β author or writer; business development officer or marketing researcher or consultant; manager in social, community, or correctional services; occupation in advertising, marketing, or public relations; social policy researcher, consultant, or program officer.

Program requirements
In the Non-profit major, students will take 9 credits in grade 11 and 12:

4 major credits that provide sector-focused knowledge and skills

1 English credit (Grade 12)

1 Math credit (Grade 11)

1 Business Studies or Science credit (Grade 11 or 12)

2 Co-operative Education credits to apply, refine, and extend your sector knowledge and skills
Additionally, students will have opportunities for

Experiential learning, career exploration and reach-ahead activities in Non-profit

Certifications and training programs, including:

β4 compulsory certifications: Standard First Aid, CPR Level C with AED, WHMIS (generic), and Ethical Considerations

3 additional certifications or training programs
