Learning Commons

We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am until 3:00pm.  St. Paul actively promotes resource-based learning in which students use a wide range of print and electronic materials.  The collection of more than 20,000 items is accessed through the automated database.  Computer work stations are available allowing students to either do research on the Internet or to utilze a variety of software programs.  The Learning Commons accommodates class visitations for instruction and project work, individual research, study and leisure reading.

Our philosophy for this transforming space is that you (the students) are working in an ever changing / evolving world in which technology can assist and enhance your own learning. As a Learning Commons staff, we remain open to the world in which technology continues to integrate itself. We continue to guide students using a moral and ethical lens in order to assess the credibility and relevance of the information that is accessed. Be sure to speak with both your Classroom Teacher and / or Teacher Librarian to contextualize, clarify and deepen your understanding of information.

The Learning Commons promotes group work, and is set up to accommodate 'study group' sessions, brainstorming activities, reading - both for fun and for academic purpose, electronic resource access, computer / iPad use, printing, traditional library use, presentations, and conferencing. Do you have personal technology that you would like to use at school - laptop? iPad? cell phone? - Ask your teacher / teacher librarian if / when you may use your device. They can help get you connected to our school BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)network!

Your Teacher Librarians for the year are Mrs. Carney and Mr. Devenish. They are available to help you each period of the day.
