As part of our Butterfly Trail initiative that began several years ago now, we have continued the tradition of purchasing butterfly kits of our Kindergarten and Primary classroom. Each class hosts 6 monarch butterfly caterpillars and 2 chrysalises. Students help to look after the caterpillars until they form into their chrysalis. From there, we wait patiently until the green chysalis turn black, which is when we know the butterfly is going to soon hatch. Students watch the butterflies come out of the chrysalis, releasing them into our school flower beds when they are ready to fly away. Such an exciting event!
