Infrastructure improvements to ALCDSB schools are underway with support from Ministry grant.
Current Construction Projects:
Kingston West Catholic Elementary School
In December 2021, ALCDSB received approval to award the tender for the new elementary school in the Kingston Woodhaven subdivision, located on Holden Street.
The $20.9 million project will be a dual stream school, providing ALCDSB students with outstanding opportunities for learning in both French and English, within a state-of-the-art facility. This project is part of the province's capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces.
Highlights of the Kingston West Catholic Elementary School will include:
• 481 elementary student spaces.
• 4 new child care rooms, providing 73 new licensed child care spaces.
• 3 new EarlyON Child and Family Centre rooms.
St. Joseph Catholic School
In February 2022, the ALCDSB received approval to award the tender for the construction of a $19.8-million addition to St. Joseph Catholic School.
The addition to St. Joseph Catholic School will accommodate:
- 481 elementary student spaces
- 20 learning studios
- Six learning commons
- Two dedicated EarlyON rooms. Licensed childcare, including three dedicated rooms and an increased number of childcare spaces to 49.
While this work is being completed, the St. Joseph Catholic School community is being temporarily housed at the Sir Winston Churchill Public School site, located at 301 MacDonald Avenue.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School
The ALCDSB has been approved for a $12.1 million build to support the re-build of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Amherstview. This new build will mean a new school on the current Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School site, which will include space for 449 students and include three new child care rooms, enabling day care for 49 children.

St. Gregory Catholic School
The ALCDSB have received approval from the province of Ontario for the acquisition of land in Picton's west end for a new school site. The $4.6 million dollars in Land Priorities funding will allow the Board to purchase the property at 175 Talbot St. in Picton for the purpose of building a replacement school for St. Gregory Catholic School, currently located on Owen St. in Picton.

The Climate Action Incentive Fund (CAIF) is an Environment and Climate Change Canada program under the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, delivering up to $218M. This program is funded from the proceeds of the federal carbon pollution pricing system. Programming is available in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick, where provinces had not committed to their own carbon pollution pricing systems in 2019-20. Eligible recipients would benefit from funding for projects to decrease energy usage, save money, and reduce carbon pollution.
The CAIF supports projects and measures undertaken by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), municipalities, universities, schools, hospitals (“MUSH sector"), and not-for-profit organizations.
The Government of Canada's Climate Action Incentive Fund (CIAF), in collaboration with the Government of Ontario, is a time-limited federal-provincial cost matching program to help school boards make
energy efficiency improvements and retrofits that reduce energy use, costs, and carbon
pollution
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has received energy efficiency upgrades funded by the CAIF. This funding has been used to for a roofing upgrade at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Kingston, Ontario.
